Summertime means more time on the water. But don’t let a failed boat lift spoil your weekend. A few simple checks can extend the life of your lift and keep your boat secure all season.
1. Clean Lift Tracks and Hardware
- Wash away sand, algae, and grime.
- Saltwater? Use a marine-safe degreaser monthly.
2. Lubricate Moving Parts
- Apply marine-grade grease to pulleys, cables, and lift arms.
- Grease bearings on winches or motors once a month.
3. Inspect Lift Cables
- Look for rust, kinks, or fraying.
- Replace immediately—worn cables can snap under load.
4. Test the Motor
- Run the lift up and down with the boat inside.
- Listen for unusual noise, lag, or vibration.
Tip: Keep a small ratchet strap or tie-down kit onboard for extra stability during transit.
